GERDAU AMERISTEEL BECOMES OFFICIAL HOST COMMITTEE SPONSOR

Today the Tampa Bay Super Bowl Host Committee announced that Gerdau Ameristeel has become an official sponsor of the Tampa Bay Super Bowl Host Committee volunteer program.

"Gerdau Ameristeel has risen to the occasion with their generous support of the Tampa Bay Super Bowl Host Committee and its volunteers," said Host Committee Chair R.A. "Dick" Beard, III. "As a good corporate citizen, Gerdau Ameristeel recognizes the Super Bowl's impact on our region, and we are so pleased they've chosen to become stakeholders in its success."

Gerdau Ameristeel's sponsorship of the volunteer program will help supply uniforms and training materials. The Host Committee is recruiting 6,000 area residents to donate their time as enthusiastic ambassadors for Tampa Bay, welcoming the more than 100,000 visitors expected for Super Bowl XLIII.

"Gerdau Ameristeel is excited to be sponsoring the volunteer program for the 2009 Super Bowl here in Tampa," said Mario Longhi, President & CEO, Gerdau Ameristeel. Supporting this outstanding global event in our corporate headquarters' home town is a large part of our community involvement vision and we look forward to showing the world the beauty and hospitality that Tampa Bay has to offer."

The Host Committee launched its volunteer draft in April, and more than 4,700 local citizens have already completed the registration process. Volunteers will be stationed at area airports, hotels and at the NFL Experience, a family-oriented, football theme park that opens the weekend before Super Bowl Sunday.
